Sources and methods
Our news is compiled from published feeds and indexes of news publications covering conservation, ecology, and wildlife observation across Europe. These sources include national and regional outlets, scientific journals, and reports from recognised environmental organisations. Each story is selected for its relevance to our core subjects: where species are, how they are doing, and how you would see them.
Every news item is processed with automated assistance to extract the key facts. It is then rewritten into a concise, plain-English summary. The original publication is clearly credited for each story. If a factual claim appears in only one publication and cannot be independently verified from our standard sources, it is either omitted or explicitly noted as being from a single source.
The reference pages on thetrailcam, such as those for Species or Watching locations, are built from stable, verified facts. These are presented in a structured facts table. Each page is completed with a credited photograph, sourced from image libraries or contributors with appropriate licences. These pages are intended as neutral reference points, free from opinion or promotional content.
Coverage of ongoing news stories is refreshed daily as new information is published. The static reference pages are reviewed and updated on a regular cycle, typically quarterly, to incorporate new scientific data, conservation status changes, or other significant developments. This ensures the information across thetrailcam remains current and reliable for its users.
